Out Rigger Steel/Gauge?

Hi all

The time has come to tackle my out riggers, as some tin worm have been active lately and found some holes.....! (doesn't look to bad, I hope?) Therefore before I set out to do this job, I was wondering if anyone knows what is the best steel to use and what gauge should it be?

Your thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated?

I went for 1 1/2" diameter x14 swg from themetalstore.co.uk 14 swg is about 2.1 mm thick some people use 16 swg which is 1.6 mm wall thickness

I used 2mm in the wall thickness, should now last I put in an inernal sleeve at the joint to give strength and it helped to align the two tubes nicely.

I have just done mine. I used this 380350679061 for the main lengths and this 251051991238 to use as a sleeve where the outrigger goes through the main chassis member. Should be good for at least another 20 years.

Not yet, but might have to once I have taken into account the 3 tonnes of hammerite I have used to paint them.

Add a ton of Dinitrol and two tons of waxoyl.
