Can anybody point me in the right direction to the purchase of a new air filter for my S2? Also, what is a good set of wing mirrors to replace utterly useless originals? Thankyou, Chopps.

You get the filter from the net eBay ML Demon Tweaks etc..

Re mirrors options are v8s replica or if you want light and simple then mk1 mx5 are a good option. Again available from the Bay. Others have fitted corado late model fiesta or taxi mirrors.

I believe the filter is a Pipercross C3004.

Perhaps this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400496326528

MX5 do look neat. Somebody on here fitted late model Fiesta mirrors and they looked good. Was it these?

Is it TopGearTVR that’s got Mitsubishi ones? They look good too. Lots of options anyway.

I have gone for the MX5 mirrors but you must be careful to get the Mk1 MANUAL mirrors, if you buy from an on line breaker make sure they know the difference. It was suggested to me that I could just cut the wires off and use them as manual, sorry but they are NOT the same shape and you will not be able to get them high enough. The early manual ones have no lever or wire going through the door but rely only on a spring loaded mounting for the lens unit.
You will probably find that the spring or spring mounting will be pretty rusty. If you search on ebay for MX5 mirror springs you should find stainless springs and mountings available from an MX5 aftermarket supplier, well worth it to save you having to bodge something up.

The new air filter will not have the hose connection for the oil breather pipe. Like everyone else, I did not want to put a hole in my new filter for the pipe, which after all just puts oil crud into your AFMs. So fit a small filter on the stub pipe from oil filler cap instead.

I have just bought one from ebay, to suit 12mm pipe:
