first of many jobs
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm now able to start spending a bit of time on the old girl since being laid up for the last couple of years. My first job is to sort out the rear bumpers that have decided to fall off the car. The metal strips that holds the bumpers in place have corroded so much that one side has fallen off.
The rubbers are in good condition so I need two replacement metal strips, hopefully in stainless, to secure the rubber back on. I don't suppose anyone is in the market to make these with bolts welded in the right place by any chance? if not what have other peeps used to hold their bumpers in place?
Chris

Hi Shaun,
I have just measured the one that has dropped off. Assuming both sides are identical I would need four strips 3cm wide, two with holes 25cm apart and two with 19cm apart. Would it be possible to have captured nuts tacked onto the strips so I can just bolt them through from inside the boot ?
How much do you want for a set ?

Just to add a possible note of caution. These are TVR,S and what you think might be the same on every car definately is not. Just found this out when fitting a complete rear roof section off another car onto mine. Natural assumption is all holes would be in same place. No such luck !!!! Same amount of holes right enough but put where bob the builder fancied stickin his drill at the time and definately not jig built. Just thinking the same might apply to these rear bumper fillets they may have variations in hole places car to car.
