Lost a bit of pride just now...

I pulled up next to a blobby shopping car thing called a Kia Sportage this afternoon at a traffic light. The road ahead looked nice so I gave it some welly and to my surprise the Kia had the same idea. I kept in it until 70 (55 limit) and backed off, but I couldn't get rid of the Kia. A little shaken because its been a while since I even remotely have been challenged to a red light duel, I cruised home just wondering why my car can't beat a jacked up estate car. However, it turns out that the Sportage SX has 260 turbocharged horsepower and a 6 speed auto. Magazines have reported 0-60 as low as 6.1 secs, albeit without much feeling of control. Now I feel much better, if a bit silly for trying.
Never mind, to each his own but watch out for some of these sheeps in wolves' clothing. Next time I will just fiddle with the radio and let him go on his way!
Aren't these little cars the best!
Cheers,
David

The S is a great car, but it was the entry level TVR when it came out nearly 25 years ago. Time has moved on and 170 bhp doesn't go very far even in a car that weighs less than a tonne. Add in the fact that it's a rwd car with no driver aids and they require a degree of "kid glove" treatment, and you'll find that most fwd warm hatches or diesel saloons will see them off
I know what I'd rather be driving though

My Suzuki GSXR gives me all the performance I could wish for and for that matter cope with!
My S2 rewards me with a great all round driving experiance, especially the sound!
Many modern cars will match or beat the S2, even my sisters first generation BMW M5 leaves my S2 but given the choice I would rather enjoy the all round enjoynent the S2 provides.
