Hi All, having taken the engine out of my 1991 V8S, with 70k miles on the clock, thought it wise to check the clutch friction plates. There is plenty of friction material left, but 3 out of the 6 springs are slightly loose with an alternate pattern one tight, one loose, so they rattle (I think). I am suspecting this is not normal, if so is a replacement in order? If I do need another, any advice on parts numbers, vendors, price or specific brand would be very happily received. Many thanks.

That's normal. Or at least the brand new one that appeared on my desk this morning is like that, one set of springs are marked with blue paint and one isn't, the ones without the paint are very slightly loose. I wouldn't go so far as to say they rattle but those three springs are certainly under no compression.
