Can anyone help. I bought myself a 1990 S a few months ago, and after welding up the exhuast manifold and releasing a front brake caliper and a few other minor jobs (All I understand normal stuff) it's time to re-set the doors. The car has at sometime in it's life had a colour change and it would seem that the doors have never been properly set up. I've had a look and nothing is obvious. Before I strip all the electric windows etc out does anyone know what is required to do this. The Bible says just loosen bolts and adjust? Having had a good look nothing seems very obvious at all?
Hope someone can help

I had passenger done done after it just about fell off. They had to drill through the bulkhead inside the engine compartment to access the pins. Nothing major as a garage service sticker covers the hole neatly enough. Bottom line is it is a right pain to do and the bolts are not obvious at all!
Have fun!

A lot of useful stuff has been posted about hinges and adjustment in the past, unfortunately the "search" seems to be permanently out of action lately.
This is a picture I took when I had mine off.....

The big bolts are the "hinges", shorter one must go at the top. The brackets are bolted into the doors and pivot on those bolts, there is a nylon bush in them. fixing holes in the brackets are much bigger than the (M8) bolts that go through them, this gives the adjustment.
Expect everything to be tight, siezed and a pig to get at!
The drawing behind them in the photo was done by Norman (gerald tvr) hopefully he'll be along soon to offer you a copy

Thanks everyone for a quick reply. I assume then that "if" I can get to the 2 bolts that hold the plate in place that locates the large Bolt/Hinge and "if" I can get the bolts undone there will be some adjustable movement. I say this because the 2 holes in the plate appear larger than the smaller bolts................ Or have I got it completly wrong.
Thanks again Mike

I did this recently due to play and drop in the drivers door. Having bought new bushes it turned out that the two smaller bolts were just a little loose. It's easier if you lift out the aluminium frame and you will need a socket set with a swivel and short and long extensions. I found the technique was to have one hand inside the door guiding the socket to the nuts and with a variety of extensions have the ratchet comfortably outside the door to operate with the other hand.
