Big green relay

I'm rebuilding my S1 and have come across a big green relay in passenger front wheel arch area, what's it for?

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on this - you didn't say if your car was an S1 / 2 / 3 etc, and I know there's no relay on the later cars.

I was hoping to have a look at an S1 today but my mate turned out to be too busy.

That relay provides power to the cold start injector. The thermotime switch signals it to come on for a certain amount of time, based on engine temp.
