Hi Mike
Did I see a post where you put up a picture of the removable bottom support to allow gear box removal, I was wanting to know if you welded inserts in or just drilled holes through the box section

Hi Alan,
See 'Cologne crankshaft pulley removal' thread, its on page 1.
Cheers,
Glen.

Edit: I think just having holes drilled through would significantly weaken the main chassis rails, looks like stiffening plates are welded in place.
And it's for sump removal, dunno about g'box.

Hi Alan, I made up two plates, each with four M8 nuts welded on. these were then welded to the insides of the chassis rails, four holes had to be drilled into the chassis to clear the nuts.

I considered bolting right through, using larger holes one side and spacer tubes (seem to recall this is how tow bars were often fitted in "my" day) but thought the way I chose a little neater?

The removeable cross member is only square because that's all I had handy at the time.

One day it would be nice to come up with something neater and giving better clearance for the gearbox scratchchin

Hi Mike
Will do it as you have it, looks good on the picture, I need to make it removable to remove the engine with gear box in one lump.
