I popped the bottom of my fuel tank to clean it up for paint ,the ring and circular cap are a bit bent and knackered I don't really know how it was held in is it replacible ? If I could I would just weld a cap on but I don't think that's an option ... Boom ! The tank is out

The locking ring and seal should be same as for the sender unit (Land Rover parts), try the search if its working.
The blanking cap I don't know, is it just a flat disc of metal? If not maybe an old sender could be "modified", one or two threads recently about guys replacing theirs, grab the old one if not already in the bin?

Yes! I do have my old sender I will check it for fit, problem is I don't think there are any 'lugs' in the hole to keep the ring in place , maybe I'm being stupid I'll have another look

Mine was in a similar state when I came to do my rebuild so I took it to a rad/tank refurb workshop and got them to remove the filter and weld a plate over the sump area. Word of warning though fit an inline filter between tank outlet and fuel pump I didnt banghead and ended up having to drain down and retrofit.

Rings are only a few quid on ebay will try that before I do anything drastic.
