The driving lights have never worked on my S3 and while the dashboard is out being re-veneered this is one of the jobs to be done. Can anyone with factory fitted driving lights tell me if they are linked to the headlights - i.e. do they only work if the headlights are on? I can't figure it out from the wiring diagram.

If they are the same as the V8S they only work when main beam is on. Yours may have been wired differently though. The first thing to check is the wiring to the lights as this type of problem is often caused by the multi-pin connectors down by the bonnet hinges.

Thanks, I was going to start at the dashboard end and work my way down to the lights, but I'll start with the connectors. It wouldn't surprise me if they are wired differently, I already know that the wire colour for the driving lights is different to what it says in the manual, which makes tracing connections a challenge.

On my S3 they will come on with side and or head lights.

Think mine did also (early S3, rotary switches), now altered so only work with dip or main.

can't see them on V6 wiring diagrams, they are on V8 drawings but top of diagram is cut off in my copy of Steve Heath book !

V8s wiring diagram also shows headlamp motors, relay and switch?

Should also have mentioned that I know there is no power going to the dashboard switch (and the fuse is OK)

Are they driving lights or fogs? I believe they could be either.

Driving lights should be wired to only come on with main beam.

When I get round to it I'm changing my S3C from fogs (pointless!) to driving lamps.

The original TVR brochure for the S3C calls them driving lights, is there a part number on your fogs?

First twist of the rotary switch puts driving lights on, second twist turns them off and rear fogs on. So I guess mine at least are not fog lights wink
