First post on here today, first body off an S type tomororw!

This is a big thankyou to all the stars that have been before and written such superb guides to all things S type.
Our S V8 failed it's MOT on outriggers, can't afford a proffessional rebuild so we thought we would have ago.
Qualifications; used to service my spitfire in the 80s, and re built a boxer engine on my old bike a few years ago.
With much printed off the internet, (barkychocs S V8 under bonnet wiring schematic is a wonderous thing) A few days off work, use of some great garage facilities, a new Halfords socket set for my birthday, bleeding knuckles sore back, the odd bit of advice from some much more competent friends and here we are.
The test lift went well last night. All being well off with the body tomorrow, and then the hard work begins.
Parts needed so far. Throttle cable, ventilation and air meter hoses, and a good deal of elbow grease and paint. Any suggestions on where to get them very welcome. We will also do all the bushes while we are at it, so if anyone knows where to get a set of rubber ones that would be good.
Only one wire connector bust, and a broken chassis bolt to remove later, so not too much damage.
Any thoughts on how to finish the chassis once cleaned also welcome. Present thoughts are Zinc oxide primer, then a couple of coats of good old fashioned commercial grade chassis paint.
So 2 firsts in 2 days, what an exciting life we lead. But seriously, thank you sincerely to all the good people who have put the effort into such an amazing array of competent information, with out it I would not have even concidered this little bit of madness.

Welcome and good luck. It will seem daunting but once on the road again it will all be worth it and you will know your car far better.
I too started last winter with not much knowledge but lots of enthusiasm. Barkychocs thead is full of valuable advice as are many of the others that are out there. But I definately couldn't have done mine without his thread or support from the other members on here helping out with issues and pulling me through the tough times.
You will learn so much about the car and your skills and knowledge will develop very quickly.
And finaly good luck and we would all love to see some photos.

Some fabulous driving roads in the lake vyrnwy area. Come April time and better weather i can see a "little trip out" to visit our "new friend" bfg 1961.
Anthony all you have to do is provide bacon butties and tea, and you will have a captive audience to fire questions at.If we can help with any thing in particular while we are "visiting" we will.

Quite right there is a rather nice hotel not so far from here, and if you don't rage on a Sunday afternoon and are careful in the villages, the local gentleman in Blue are fairly understanding. Also fairly predicable where they will be
Bacon Butties a speciality,it will be great to welcome you any time. Plenaty of parking a nd a decent bar near by
