S Club Euro Tour 2013 FERRY OPTIONS
Discussion
I know its early but there is a 20% off voucher (E13EBO and ends on the 14th Jan) for DFDS Ferries.
Had a look at the prices and it seems that the £31.20 each way for high season seams reasonable. Anyone found any better deals? Was thinking of Dover to Calais 14.45 and Calais to Dover either 1.30 which would mean an early start back or 3.30 which gives more time to get back but more chance of hitting traffic UK side.
Any thoughts on the above?

Easy done!
1.30 return might be a bit of a rush but would help avoid busiest time on M25. 310 miles by one o'clock wouldn't leave a lot of time forgetting lost sightseeing and shopping (or is that part of the cunning plan)
!
What do you think of my "let you on an earlier Ferry FOC but may charge you if late" theory

I know we did this at Spa but that was not peak season so depends on how full the ferry is. So I guess we either take our chance on space being available or perhaps go for 3.30 which would leave us 6 and a half hours to get back if we left at 9.00 in the morning? I am easy so which do you fancy?

Stuart and I are looking at 14:45 outbound on Friday like you, but 18:00 back on Wednesday so we don't have to rush. As Mike said, there's always a possibility of getting on an earlier ferry, and of course we only have a 90 minute journey home from Dover.

The departure time from the French ferry ports was always the hardest to try and predict. Trying to estimate the travel time, from say the south of France to the ferry port, was guesswork at best, with heavy holiday traffic etc.
Every time we were early was Never a problem, they would always try to squeeze you on.
It was a totally different story if you were late....so Phillpots logic sounds spot on to me!
Taking the worse case scenario, and they dont let you on early, then you just waste a bit of time around Calais. No extra cost.
Worse case scenario because you are late............ "But its one of our busiest times sir, but for an extra payment we could possibly squeeze you on"

Cheers Graham. As long as you are not pottering in your 4.6 S I am happy to tag along at the back
With regards to the ferry, I have booked...
Dover to Calais
Departing: Fri 05/07/2013 14:45 Arriving: Fri 05/07/2013 17:15
Calais to Dover

Hoping to get the earlier ferry home if I make it to the port in time, but if not then at least I know I have a firm booking that should be easy to keep, all being well?
Price came in at £59.20 using the discount code mentioned earlier.
Cheers, Stew.

Trying to book it also but struggling for the payment to process!!
Convoy worked well last yr, so I'm up for that. Just need to work out collection points for waifs and strays nearer the time.

Think you have to have some money in your account Max
Are you booking (or trying) directly through DFDS site ?
Sure a bit of "convoying" can be sorted bit nearer the time
............

That's Stew in the Griff at the back trying to keep up

Going to book the tunnel £94 return
£94
It was more than that when I checked Barry. How / where did you get that price? That is the price I saw if crossing Saturday morning and coming back Wednesday but you've asked for a room in Calais so will need to cross Friday which, frustratingly, means we do not qualify for the 5 day saver price...
