What does the MIL warning light (top left on warning light cluster) signify on an S3? It hasn't come on but can't find any indication about what fault it would point to if it did come on. Is it linked to the ECU?

Cheers

On mine it wasn't linked to anything (no bulb behind it)!

Maybe it is used on the S3c scratchchin

Oil pressure warning light on V8s.

I believe on later Griff / Chimaera it is Malfunction Indicator light for ecu.

Hmmmm curiouser and curiouser. I suspected that it wasn't linked to anything and sounds like I might be right. Am getting the dash out next weekend and will confirm once and for all. Planning to replace the smoked glass arrangement with something bespoke (and actually useful!) and trying to work out how many lights I'll need and in what configuration. Will post some pics when done.

Thanks for your help

That's what I did, now have an indicator warning light I can actually see smile

Low oil pressure and ignition on top, indicators, main beam and side lights on the bottom.

Handbrake, low brake fluid, front driving lamp and rear fog warning lamps are on centre console

(didn't have last two or oil light before)

Looks great! Out of interest, where did you get the lights in the dash (by the speedo/ rev counter)?

Cheers

The MIL light wasn't used on the V6 I believe but some have jury rigged it later. It was the low oil pressure for the escort (I think) that the smoked panel came from originally.

Mine does work - it lights up every time my mother-in-law sits in the passenger seat - I just can't find the ejector seat button.

Happy New Year.

Hi all. It's an old topic but very usefull. I've just removed the dashboard of my 1992 S3C and was surprised by the unplugged MIL light. I don't find any loom to plug on. Now it's clearer. The indicator is just there to decorate biggrin... Also on S3C

On my V8S it was originally connected to the low oil pressure switch.
