After 6 or 7 years of using S's as every day transport I recently decided it was time to move on, and believe me, this has been a hard decision. With good looks, sensible power levels and reasonable running costs, what could replace it. I did not think 5 litres sensible for every day use so I had a bit of fun test driving Elise, Vx220, TT etc, all of which had shortcomings which made me appreciate getting back into the S. Finally, and almost reluctantly I tried a Griff 500 and within 500 yards, my decision was made. The increase in power is taken as read, but the thing which impressed me most was the level of refinement compared to earlier cars (yes, you heard "refinement" and "TVR" in the same sentence). Yet it felt instantly familiar, with the family resemblance coming through strong, at last a fitting replacement for the S.
I only hope the Griff turns out to be as trouble free as my old faithful J961FUY, which, if anyone is looking for a good reliable S, will be coming up for sale at Hexham Horseless Carriages.

As a recent convert to the delights of S ownership (post young kids ) I fully understand the desire to go up to the grown up version, hence known as the Griff500 .
In the relatively short time I've had the V8S I can say that I've actually been more than pleasantly surprised at how refined it actually is on a day to day basis. It is a third car and so is for fun but if it had to be an everyday transport I'd have no doubts that it would be up to it.
I'm already considering the need for the extra grunt or maybe a rolling road tune and I've always assumed that the natural successor is the Griff500. Saying that I have been mightily impressed with the Tamora's I've seen and if I could put an interactive sound track on the CD of the V8 burble, I don't think I'd baulk .
What type of S was it BTW?

S2 for 3 years followed by S3 for 3 years. I know what you mean about the Tamora BUT for my money there are still too many doubts about the AJP6. Read the "Engine Mods" thread on the Tuscan gass and pity the guy with 4 engine rebuils to date!. Once there are a few past the 50k mark without a rebuild then maybe its time to start thinking about it, until then, no thanks.

Anyway the Griff is still the best looking TVR ever in my book. It doesn't have a single line out of place, whereas the Tuscan and Tamora have a few areas which could be improved. Then of course there's the Chimp which looks like a bl**dy life raft!
