Ok, with my car failing to reach its reserve on eBay. I will be keeping it ,the tax is out and it will be off the road for some time. I am going to do a partial lift where I will discover my out riggers in tip top condition requiring only a quick lick of hamerite, I have removed the bonnet and am reserching replcement hinges, so I am thinking of rigging up a pully system anchored of my car port to lift and hold the body this is a long way off but , I want to be sure it won't pull the whole lot down, does anyone know the weight of the body tub ?

The shell itself is really quite light, two of us lifted one off a trailer with ease but, of course, yours will be fully trimmed, doors, dash, hood maybe even seats etc. etc. still fitted but I reckon it could still be lifted comfortably by four men so maybe around 250 - 300 kg ?

300 kg.... Hum I recon if I remove as much weight as possible, with some clever anchors and a couple of rachet straps or a pully I should be ok ?

That is a pure guess Mike, I'd get a few more opinions before making any decisions.

Five or six good men is the "norm" to lift a body right off but that's more due to awkwardness (and maybe one to just look for snags, not actually lifting) than pure weight I believe?

You don't want to get it wrong .........smile

I had eight guys and that meant we could take our time, it's not a straight up lift, as the front chassis rails and gearbox tunnel taper

Hi Mike

Mine went 'up' to the roof of the garage in October 2011 - no issues yet. 2 pullies bolted in to the garage roof beams.
