Powered boot release - switch polarity?

Anyone know whether the electric boot release switch (on an S3) is positively or negatively triggered?

I think it is a positive trigger as I wired a spare output from my alarm to it to allow remote opening. Took me ages to find the correct cable to tap into.

sure it is positive from what I remember - Basically a VW Golf door solenoid which pulls a wire to release the catch when you press the button on the steering cowl.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm doing. The alarm manual advises using a relay, which I've hooked up just need to find the correct trigger wire. Can you direct me to the one you used?! Cheers

Cant add more myself, as I just replaced the switch and replaced the solenoid but used the wires that were there...
