Hi all. I keep blowing the fuse for the drivers side and instrument lights. Now whilst i obviously relish tracing every wire from start to finish i was wondering if anyone knew of any likely places for a short? Stationary testing gives me no more than about 4.5 amps but a blown 10amp fuse on the move suggests otherwise! Cheers. Adam.

Are the side lights on that fuse? I found that the front side light bulb holders which were old school metal type for the bayonet cap bulbs were so badly made they easily short circuited. The contacts are in a very thin tufnul plate that is easily broken. Changed them for plastic ones with push in capless bulbs.
Rob.

Yes it is the fuse for the sidelights. Checked sidelight bulb holders and wiring/connections at headlight end though and all look fine. Couldn't find a multi-plug anywhere near the bonnet hinges - where does this / these hide?!
Another fuse blew this afternoon after about about 20 mins of an otherwise very pleasant drive! Grrrr......

Usually just after the wiring loom "leaves" the chassis to go into the bonnet, maybe a previous owner has already cut them out, joined wires and taped over?
These aren't original but gives you an idea of where to look (both sides).

Oh, ok - thanks. Mine seems to just be continuous wiring here, although it is covered in plastic shielding stuff. I will explore further . . . . .
