Had my first breakdown in three years today, heater hose off the engine split and I lost most of the water in a cloud of steam. Did a temporay fix at the roadside, filled it up again and it seems ok though it ran slightly hotter than normal for the 50 miles home. Wondering if I cooked the thermostat and hoping I have'nt done any other damage. I'm guessing the 2.9 is a pretty tough engine and will stand a bit of over heating without blowing gaskets.

Thats what i'm thinking, will change all the heater hoses at the weekend and then monitor for water loss over the next few weeks. Started and ran fine this morning.
Digressing a bit, the brake light you gave me is now sprayed up and ready to go on next weekend (weather permiting) Will take photo's and update my other thread when its on. I think its going to look good.

...... and so starts anothers nervousness about cooling. i'm still nervous 12 months after my "incident" - i'm convinced there's an underlying issue still.
