windscreen Rubber Trim

Hi All.
Just been trying to find a post showing a windscreen with a rubber surround, now I have the body sanded I need to cleanup around the windscreen area, I have no screen in at the moment, I still need to get a screen so that's the next on my list of things to get.

Hi Alan,
S windscreens are actually bonded in place with a surround of sealant to prevent the milky effect of water penetration/delamination.
No rubber trim as far as I'm aware.

Hi Glen.
Mine was only bonded as you say but in the last 2 months (I think) there was a picture of a S with a rubber trim round the screen.

You don't have to go with a trim (but if it had one, it was probably s/a an old Cavalier back window). I think they look very nice with a 'finished', UV resistant, Polyurethane backfill.

Hi All.
Todays job is cleaning up all the old sealer from when the old screen came out, think its going to be a long job.
Then I need to find a screen, I dont think there was ever a heated one for the S ?

My car has the rubber surround, and I have a receipt showing that it was fitted by Autoglass last year. Looks good!

That's my S2 you have pictured there Alan. I didn't realise my windscreen surround was unusual though! Dave

Sorry for butting in, but on the same topic I have a rubber surround on windscreen on my S3 and was after some advice. The chap I bought the car off had a new screen fitted back end of last year. I've noticed that the seal/surround has started to come away around the lower corner on the driver's side. Coincidentally when driving home in a heavy down-pour last week i became acutely aware of a soggy sensation developing in my right lower leg... it appears my car leaks pretty badly from behind the dash on the driver's side in heavy rain. I've read this is common and can be down to water ingress through the bulkhead but could it also be the screen? And anyone know where I can get the rubber seal either replaced or resealed? Is there a reliable DIY option?
