TVR S1 temperature gauge and sensor

Hi guys, I'm partially rebuilding my TVR S1 and currently I'm in the process of fitting another radiator. I guess the old radiator wasn't the original one, since it had the hose connections on the wrong corners. However, my new radiator isn't really prepared for temperature sensor fitment. The old radiator had a 22mm unthreaded hole and a sort of clip to keep the sensor in. On my new radiator there's only one hole threaded M12, which I would like to use for a temperature sensor. There are a lot of sensors available, but which one to pick?
- Can anyone point me in the right direction for a temperature sender?
Questions that come to my mind, but where I can't find answers for:
- Is the temperature sensor in my car only a sensor, or a switch as well? (since it has two connections on top)
- What is the temperature reach for the original sensor?
- What type of temperature sensors can I use with the original gauge?
- What brand are the gauges?
In my setup, I do have another seperate temperature switch on the swirl pot. The temperature sensor in my radiator has the number 7702166 stamped on it.

S1 (2.8 engine) may be completely different to the later 2.9 engine but on those the sender for the gauge is on the engine the switch which is for the electric fan is on the metal section of the top hose. original is a clamp on arrangement, no thread or hole in the pipe. Many cars have now up-graded to a stainless pipe which has a large thread and uses a switch common to the Chimaera and Griffith.
Temp. gauge sensor usually only has one wire, live, which is earthed through the sender. Fan switch has two, a live and an earth.

Hmm... after reading your post I had another good look and found the temperature sender on the engine! Thank you for clearing that up!
The switch on the radiator must be some sort of left over from a previous owner then? Or the temp switch on my swirl pot is the left over? Is this swirl pot with temp switch original for an S1?
