I dont think DVLA are really on the ball. Mine is a 290 when I bought it it had 280 on the V5 so I amended it and it still came back as a 280.
Also when I tried to insure it, they had no records of the Reg No and tried to tell me it was a Tasmin. So I thought best to give up at that point.
.
Incidentally while trawling the classifieds I think there are 6 , V8's up for sale at the moment.

My 2.8 S was registered by TVR as a Tasmin. ( Does this mean I have got that trophy under false pretences? )
T ried to change it but DVLA want a written declaration from the manufacturer. Bit difficult these days.
Interestingly, it's only 2 digits from Mr.Tank's Tasmin Auto.
It seems TVR registration is a bit of a lottery where accuracy is concerned. God bless 'em.

I had no issues with Firstline....but have not really done enough mileage to judge reliability...probably they do all come from the same source as tooling up for production for a limited supply would be expensive.....even if its only the casting which is made in one place and bearings etc are fitted by individual suppliers..
The only issue to be careful of is bolt removal some are tight and corroded and because they are corroded they have their cross sectional area thinned ...so caution is needed.
Good Luck

There were quite a few TVRs that weren't correctly registered by model. Could explain a few discrepancies. See this page:

I reckon that DVLA website is complete rubbish in trying to establish accurate numbers on most cars. I must have seen well over 24 V8s's myself during the course of last year. There has to be at least 100 left i'd suggest. I think the Forum's list of owners on here is far more reflective of the true position if not somewhat light of the real picture out there.
