S passed it's MOT this morning. Asked if there was anything to keep an eye on to be told "no, it's well looked after" wink

A nice compliment but rather undeserved as I've not spent as much time on the S as I should.

One interesting thing I noticed, this years exhaust emissions were quite a bit lower:

Year--2011---2012
CO---2.624--0.648
HC------75----202

Only significant change I've made is replacing a pretty wrecked air filter.

Just wondered how much variation there is in these tests or is this a real change?

That's a fairly significant change - was it the same MOT station?

In theory, there shouldn't be much of a varience as the MOT stations are supposed to calibrate their equipment regularly and the testers all receive the same training... But variences are possible as it depends on how far the probe is pushed in, how hot the car is, how efficient the air filter is (LOL) and even the octane of the fuel can have an impact (along with a whole host of other things - none of which tend to get better on their own).

Congratulations on the MOT smile

Yup - same MOT station and tester. Just pleased it's gone the right way but also curious.
