I think the gearbox on my car is exhibiting its final call .
I have now gained a low growl at 60-80 mph which goes when the clutch is depressed, I also have the usual problem engaging second when cold and a lovely judder taking up drive (that one may be the clutch or a mounting). All this despite having (apparently) been rebuilt 3 years ago (old receipt) .
Has anyone tried replacing their N type cast gearbox with the later (stronger and lighter) MT75 - does it fit? Can anyone recommend a good place to obtain a recon unit?
Many thanks,
Steve.

Does the rumbling vary depending which gear you are in?
I have heard that the MTX 75 is too wide for the chassis, has anyone tried it though?
Also I understand that the bellhousing on the type 9 is removable and the MTX75 bellhousing is part of the casting which MAY mean it wouldn't bolt up anyway!
Anyone here tried the 'MTX75?
