Heater controls

Just wanted to check if it was normal:

• for "cold" not to blow particularly cold - I know the weather is warm but it feels like the air coming through the vents is actually being warmed!

• the cabin vents only really to blow air when I am on the move. The control is set to "cabin" but I feel more on my feet than I do through the cabin vent unless I am moving...

If normal, no worries. If not, ideas what might be wrong?

All perfectly normal.

I find the aircon works better with the roof off.
Also the faster you go. .

Take a quick look at the air duct pipes under the bonnet. Mine have a habit of slippimg off the spigot at the end of the bonnet (suspect the tubes have "shrunk" with age). If they're off they'll duct air in from the engine bay rather than the frontal area of the car...

It doesn't make a great deal of difference but it does make a little.

Surely you mean the (unique to TVR) humidity sensors which were fitted as standard?

The eyeball vents are fed form the bonnet air intake so 'fresh' air only when you are moving. This is never heated.

The heater only recirculates air in the cabin so will only work when the fan is running, so no cooling when its hot but some heat in the cold weather. Selecting cabin/demist as needed

Heater valve in engine bay is closed so the water in the heater matrix is cold so the fan will just take air out of the cabin and then return it unless you have demist selected when the air flow is re-directed to the screen

Warmth in the cabin is not an issue I have experienced since buying my S3 in April.

My fan does not work so I do not have any heating (or otherwise) options than opening the windows or lowering the roof.

Another job I have to sort before end of summer.

Stationary on the M25 in baking sun at about 2pm yesterday, it did get pretty warm. Engine stayed nice and cool though which is the main thing

In addition to this thread.
May I ask, how difficult is it to fit a new slider control cable on the hot/cold adjustment?
The lever moves easily, the tap on the matrix moves easily but the cable seems to be jammed or pinched and will not move! Does the dash control press out or is it fastened by some other means. . .?
Help please. Opening the bonnet to alter the temp is a little tiresome.

I had the same problem when I got mine. The slider is held in place by two metal "Bridges" secured by nuts on studs extending from the back of the unit. If you remove the side trim (that has the ashtrays in it) and lay on your back with your head in the passenger footwell you can see the back of the slider. But you need very thin arms with two wrists to get at it. I disconnected the cable at the engine end, which is very easy then with a rag stuffed up the back of the dashboard to catch any surplus I squirted penetrating oil into the cable, and had a go at the inner with a pair of pliers. Repeated several times over several days eventually freed it. A good squirt of engine oil and remember to move the slider once a week and it has been fine for 18 months.
