I have a dilemma. .
OH has said she would like a road trip. Hurrah !! Doesn't normally go for this idea !!
I have ( as we speak hopefully ) sold the MGB. The TVR is a project in its early stages, road legal but interior stripped out, in need of some mechanical, electrical work and repair replacement of hood. It needs bodywork but thats not essential for travelling, and anyway thats my bag and it can be done as and when.
The TVR is apparently quite well known on here (Norman/ Gerald knows it well) B10ADB

Could do with being ready to go in early September time.
Option 1 :- I cannot dream of getting it ready by then, unless I get someone to do all the work, not ideal, my project and all that. Plus the cost.
Option 2 :- Find someone with finished project and part exchange. Removes my input.
Option 3 :- Leave the TVR behind and go in the VW oil burner. Not a convertible.
Option 4 :- Hope and Pray the OH will still be up for the Road Trip next year.

What would you do ?

Options 1 and 2 are effectively the same aren't they? You'd lose the satisfaction of doing the job yourself...

You could (could...) hire a convertible for the trip, that way you'd have a comfortable, relaible, "wind in your hair" vehicle to show your OH the joys of open top motoring and a well planned road trip.

That way when you get back and have the wonderful memories you can fully prep the TVR for the next trip...

Given the choices I'd probably either hire something OR reluctantly hand the project over to someone with the time to get it ready, but just the bare essentials for the trip and do the cosmetics/enhancements myself later...

You could always spend the £3400 on this: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... and then sell yours when you get back (or re-sell that one) at that price you wouldn't lose much if anything...

^^^^ This, except I'm not sure where the £3400 suddenly appeared from?
Perhaps a short term loan?
Certainly cheaper in the long run than paying to get the work done on your own S.

Only problem could be you might not want to part with either when the time comes to sell.smile

Yes thought about that, means having 3 cars around still but will think about it.
I should get the cash from the guy today for the MGB, if its not one of those Nigerian scams moved to France.

Plus would I sell any of them when the time comes...?
It s taken 4 years to let the MGB go.

Slippery slope... That's why we still have the Alfa Spider alongside her TT Convertible and my S1.. Not that I'm complaining mind, the drive is big enough so it must be OK..

I have use of a couple of garages plus a part walled carport at home so 3 under cover is fine, with the daily users on the drive but tax & insurance gets a bit silly, £1000 approx for the 3 of mine at the moment plus OH's.

Gonna go with this idea Ta, doubt if even a professional could get all the jobs done at such short notice.

MGB has gone so I have some cash to play with.
