S1 or S2???Help
Discussion
Hi all-I'm just about to buy my first TVR. I have a choice of:
S1-full TVR history 64K miles, 3 monthy full warranty for £5250 (TVR specialist dealer)
or
S2 - full TVR history 41K miles, no warranty, Joe Bloggs garage dealer for £6500
Which one does anyone recommend as the most sound investment??
Thanks,
Richard
PS Any tips are welcome on either!!
Don't feel rushed into buying either Richard,
It's a buyer's market at the moment and you can afford to be very choosy. You shouldn't have any problem getting a car for that sort of money, so go for the newest one you can.
The S's are pretty rock solid, but the newer the car the better developed it will be as they did develop them a bit over the years.
Get an S2, best car TVR ever made! (best to work on out of the S's though)
In fact if you want a good sound S2, Marcus Wilson had one for sale a month or so back at a very good price, it had done over 100K but it looked like new! (I could show you cars with half that mileage that look worse!).Problem is I have lost his email address! (it's Monza red has a TVR plate and new alloy rad)might be lurking around the for sale ads somewhere?
Lee S2!!!
quote:Why? The main difference is the S1 has the 2.8 and the S2 has the 2.9 which is a much better engine, Although there are other differences. S2's are generally a better car Mark

Thanks all for the helpful hints on the S1 vs. S2 saga!...as it happens I have chosen the S1, not least of which is because finances limit me. But also, I'm lookin for summer fun, car seems to be priced right, detailed TVR history, and I think when (if) I sell at end of summer, my market for a £5,000 car will be larger to general sports car seekers.
Who knows then again I may fall in love like the rest of you lot, and never part with the little gem!
Cheers,
Rich
