New life for my S3

Hi there,

I have recently inherited (well April) my Father's S3 which had been sadly laid up in his garage for the past four years, she came off the road due to engine cutting in/out at low revs or cruising, no pattern really but turned out to be caused from water in the fuel tank from a blocked drain hole in the filler cap area.

I drained the tank a new fuel filter & fuel pump was added. Engine oil & filter changed (gearbox was done 3k miles ago so think ok?) and along with plugs and air filter as it was knackered and flushed the radiator. She Passed the MOT first time and with a bit of polish of the body and cleaning of the wheels I think she looks lovely now and is used on most sunny days around the Taunton/somerset area. Iv'e attached a picture on here.

The bonnet would suggest it might be an S3c - it's the right age.

Has it still got the cats in?

Interesting... will look up the differences thanks for mentioning this. Doesn't have cats, just standard late S2/3 downpipes/manifold ( As bible info/pictures) & mated to a stainless system with what look like larger than normal exit exhaust pipes.

Any info appreciated, cheers.

I guess you're refering to the driving lamps? They could be fitted as an option on all S3's (£350 on my 1990 S3)

Congratulations, I hope by "inherited" you mean your Dad gave it to you rather than the more unfortunate commutation of that phrase.

Hi there,

I've attached some pictures which may help, the exhaust system is standard manifold mated to an ACT SS straight through system which sounds more like a V8 however my Father had the car from March 2006.

Very nice car.

FYI it is an S3 as you said, not an S3C - it has air flow meters, and no lambda sensors or MAP sensor. S3C has a different exhaust manifold with lambdas in, and no air flow meters.
