Hi all

Just got a fresh MOT this morning, yippee!

A couple of (non MOT) issues.

The steel water pipe running underneath and around the sump is weeping.
Is there a replacement available or should I just get a flexible hose and run it around?

The top of the exhaust is (just) touching the sump.
To prevent grounding I want the exhaust as high as possible and the engine mounts were changed a couple of years ago so the engine isn't "sagging".
One suggestion is to put a sheet of something between them that is replacable and heat resistant.
In the good old days a small pice of asbestos would have done the trick but it is now out of favour.Any ideas?

Cheers

Tim

Maybe a bit brittle for what you want but a very good insulator

You could bond it between two sheets of alloy possibly?

I've used an old "fire blanket" in the past for heat shielding on a motorcycle with an underseat exhaust and I also always heat wrap my exhausts. If there's room I'd suggest heatwrapping the exhaust pipe, while you're there you might as well do the headers too smile
