wiring to boot
Discussion
hello
how is the wiring routed from the main body to the boot? I followed from the lights to the passenger side then it goes by the filler neck and down out if reach. Don't really want to remove carpet where I don't have to so a clue as to where it enters the tub would be appreciated.? I'm thinking behind the passenger seat somewhere but its not wanting to move forward at the moment..
cheers

It goes over the wheel arch into the cabin area. There should be a slit in the carpet sort of behind the seat back, this gives access to the loom, the interior light connections and the targa pivot bolt.
From there it goes through the sill to the front of the car.
On my S3 the cills are hollow, I was able to "fish" a cable through when I put the battery in the boot, on Chimaeras they are filled with expanding foam making things a little more difficult.
The problem with fitting a standard radio is that there is barely enough space for it and the mess of wiring that lives in that area. You just have to squash all the cabling up as best you can to get everything to fit back together. Alternatively, do what I did and fit a compact radio to allow more room behind. I also swapped the fresh air ducting for hoover hose. These are much more flexible and easier to fit onto the “eyeballs” when re-fitting the console. They are also a bit smaller in diameter which helps too.

Good value at £34.99 and only 88mm deep, and with a USB & memeory card insert. Works a treat – when you can hear it.
