I know this topic pops up every other week but I thought I'd ask everyone anyway...

My wheels need full renovation. I have spoken to a chap who comes to your house and polishes the wheels (in situ) to a mirror finish for just over £100. The question is, how long will they stay that way. As there is no laquer to contend with, could they just be polished every so often?
Any words of wisdom please.

Mine were polished in such a way by the previous owner and if you are fastidious with your cleaning as my car's previous owner must have been then yes, they will stay looking good without laquer. However, if you are like me then no, they won't stay looking good.

Mine are currently being repaired / polished at a cost of £25 + vat each. I am told that they actually turn the wheels down slighty on a lathe to remove the corroded outer surface, polish and then re laquer them, I'll let you know about the results.

Sounds cheap!
Where is this company based and do you leave the car with them or just the wheels?

The company I am using are based in Warrington, but there are loads of alloy wheel specialised across the country.
