Wanted TVR S

hi i am new to the forum so hello to you all
can anyone point me in the right direction
i am looking for a s1-s3 that needs restoration
for my own use (im not in it to make money)
i will travel anywhere in the uk. i was intrested
in the barn find on ebay but was sold when i rung
so if you saw that car you can see i dont mind work
the reason i want a restoration job is if i buy a good i
will only end up stripping it any way

My advice is to set up a search on fleabay, TVR S's come up quite often.

Also keep checking P/Hds Classifieds, and TVRCC classifieds.
The right one for you will turn up, just a question of patience.

i spoke to Douglas Valley Breakers who have one on ebay, he says he will take £2000 for it but the top wishbone mounts are bent. i offered him £1500 but he declined

As you were mentioning ebay, here is a S1 classified for £3000. Should be able to negotiate a bit off from that too.

Then there is lots of info on its history here. Douglas Valley are known for there high prices though. But if they have what your looking for at a price your willing to pay then thats all that ultimately matters. They do sometimes have stock of parts that can't easily be sourced elsewhere.

and depending how good your welding is I think Norman (gerald tvr) might still have a chassis to cut 'n shut damage area?

thanks for your replies. i spoke to douglas valley breakers,
he says it has chassis damage to the front wishbone area,
i did make him an offer but he refused. the one on ebay
are a bit to good for what i am after as i want to do a
full body off rebuild including galvinising the chassis

Even the ones that look OK from the surface can be rotten to pieces. The rust hides and is almost impossible to spot. I'd suggest possibly purchasing one thats superficially good but rusty underneath. That way when finished you will have a solid car that looks good too without spending an absolute fortune.

Most cars unless having had full or partial body off will most likely require one some time in the next few years. Just have a look at all the body off threads on well looked after cars here. The same is coming true for Griff's, Chim's and even some Cerbs.

I would forget the chasis galvanising plan if I were you , the heat process involved is likely to distort the thing , search on this forum, it has been discussed before.
