Hi guys, the sump on my s1 2.8 has dimples on the gasket face, I ordered a new gasket and it doesn't have provision for the dimples. I tightened it down and it just won't sit flat. Where can I get the correct gasket( its a steel sump),
Thanks

Are you sure the raised bits on the old gasket are not due to it being compressed against the sump?

Does your sump gasket face have raised "stumps" between the holes? If so it sounds like a 2.9 sump or a late model 2.8. Then you will need the one piece rubber gasket as used on the 2.9 engine. The rubber gasket has the holes to acommodate the stumps. The stumps are just standoffs to ensure you cannot over-compress the gasket. The earlier 2.8 engines have a flat sump face and use a multi-piece cork gasket.

It does have the stumps, sounds like I may need the 2.9 gasket, the old gasket was cork, wish I had paid attention before I disposed of it!
Many thanks guys, I'd be stuck without your help
