s1 fuel pump relay

I was after a spare fuel pump relay,(or two) cant find one online there are a few similar looking ford(purple)ones on e bay but more expensive than i imagined, can anyone help. not sure whats going on at tvr car parts ?

Tvr car parts has shut as Richard the owner is I'll and he was a sole trader. There are threads elsewhere on this. As for the relay when I was looking for one for the s3 which I believe is different there were plenty of pattern part suppliers for the relay online from around £15. I'd google the part number and see how many come up. I found eBay more expensive than normal suppliers.

Hi, mine went on me this morning, I had a spare which came with the car but it doesn't seem to be that easy to find a replacement, did you have any luck?

No I'm only after a spare , there are a few on eBay ( rs turbo) but I can't afford or justify 45 quid most of the other ford ones are 4 terminals

I am in the process of trying to find an alternative , I have found one that works but but have only used it briefly .can anyone point out any potential problems. my original gets quite warm ( one of the connectors is a bit black ). Is that normal ? I obviously don't want to advertise this minor victory untill I am certain
it is safe !

The two things that kill these relays are poor connections and overcurrent that cause overheating.

The poor connections can be either corrosion of the connector pins or cracked soldering where the internal relay is soldered to the PCB and where the output pins are soldered to the PCB.

Overcurrent is usually knackered fuel pump or blocked filter. The pump should draw approx 6A and certainly no more than 8A. Anything higher than this change the filter, if the current is still too high try another pump.

BUT the relay also powers the warm-up regulator and AAD heating elements during start up. Check these circuits for faults too.
