Fan not cutting in..

Hi all,had my S2 parked up for a few months,started her yesterday and the cooling fan is not cutting in at the usual temperature.Would this be a fuse/relay ?
Also whats the best gear to clean mould from the interior ? There is even a small mushroom taking root on the passenger seat ? Getting her all tidied up as I've got to sell her as I'm off travelling.

There could be a number of reasons why the fan isn't working. You need to isolate the problem, not just guess. It could be:

1. Check fuse. Obvious start! If fuse ok move to next test.

2. Otter switch. Short out the terminals on the switch in the top hose. If fan kicks in, the switch is knacked. If still no fan, move on to next test.

3. Fan. Disconnect the 2-wire connector under the radiator. Put a voltmeter or test lamp in the end of the loom (car side). Short otter switch as above. If bulb lights, wiring is ok. To confirm, move to next test.

4. Run an earth and live wire to the fan side of the connector above. Fan should work. If not, then fan is knacked. If it does, then fault is in wiring or connections.

Those tests should at least isolate whee the problem lies, and help you get properly directed advice.

Fan – any one, or a combination of –
Ottter switch
Fuse
Relay
Connections/wiring
Fan motor (might have seized if it's been left to stand for a long period)

Mould & magic mushrooms? Where have you been storing it? If it’s been that damp I’d be more worried about the chassis and electrics. Anyway, see how you get on with washing up liquid. That kills most things.

Failing that, it sounds like you need to pressure wash the inside and leave it out in the sun. Better still, take it out for a good long runs and get some fresh air inside it.
