The good : MOT pass this morning. Flying colours, so another 12 months glorious motoring ahead. biggrin

The bad : got to the bottom of my cooling system "issue" - cylinder head gasket(s). i sense a heftyish bill as beeen recommended to have the heads skimmed while off and have the valves reset while at it which made sense.

Definately head gaskets ?

Back in my youth when I worked on the predecessor of these, the "Essex" V6 and V4 engines it was far more common for the inlet manifold gasket to fail (the waterways go through the inlet manifold)?

I think I have a set of those so if you check and Mikes right let me know and I'll bung them in the post... I cant be @rsed to sell much more on fleabay as despite some sensible folk buying and doing the business I have had my share of nutters recently too... time wasters... Grrr...

ahem, anyway, if you need them let me know and if they are the right ones for your engine they are yours...

Cheers.

After a chat with Richard at RT it may not be cylinder head gaskets. Some more explorations before a decision me thinks.

Need to to resolve for the Spa trip

Can they dip test the coolant?? That would tell if the heads have gone?

Had the "blue liquid to yellow" test (technical eh?) today which is what started this off.

The oil filler cap is clean though, and I have some other things to try that Richard has suggested before embarking on the BIG job.

I'll keep you all posted.
