Roll over rear hoop S1

Hi

As a new to TVR's please could anyone tell me where i can get a roll over bar from. I just want a rear hoop to give some extra protection when on the road. I don't want a full cage of harness type seat belts. Thanks for reading

Midlands area but don't mind traveling within reason. Idealy a hoop i can fit myself would be best

Rollcenter made the ones that Tower View sold. Tower View had an exclusive arrangement but since they aren't trading any more you may find that Rollcenter will deal with you directly.

They did say as TVRs are never all the same dimensions they need the car to measure

Lot of "discussion" for and against on other TVR forums.

very rare for a car to roll in a road traffic accident (although I did manage it with a '66 Mustang many years ago) but very good chance of whacking your head on a roll bar in a front, rear or side impact (yes, they can be padded) ?

Hi All

I think if you have harness type seatbelts a roll bar or hoops are essential as if you roll the seatbelts don't allow you room to duck down like you can do with lap type, we have all leaned over to pick up something you can't do that with harness type belts, I agree with you phillpot about rolling over in a traffic accident but if you go off the road into a ditch there is a chance of rolling.

I decided to get one (& Mrs L'rs insisted) after I nearly died while driving a mates Caterham. Well, I wasn't actually driving it at the time... I was stationary when the 10 ton lorry doing 40mph drove into the back of me. I was parked on the side of the road while my mate went for for a desperately needed pee in a convenient clump of bushes.

Every time after that I got into my TVR I looked at the steering wheel without an airbag. If I'd not been wearing a harness in the Caterham I'm certain it's steering wheel would've been buried in my head. And although I had a bit of whiplash it was relatively minor because the harness held me in position. The biggest problem was having the remains of the lorrys headlight picked out of the back of my head...

So, although they are inconvenient at times I feel much more secure and (mentally) comfortable with the harnesses. And you don't fit harnesses without a roll bar.

Also the roll bar also makes the car an enormous amount stiffer which helps the handling, as well as giving me somewhere to mount my camera

I just found this picture on my PC, I kept it as this is what I was thinking of when I get mine made. I don't know who made this so if anybody knows can you post back who made it.
