A long sorry tale but getting somewhere now :)
Discussion
It goes a little something like this.
After many other things having priority, (according to SWMBO), I have finally managed to get some garage time. It's been so long I had forgotten when my poor little S last saw the road. A look at the disc in the window however informs me that the road tax ran out August 2010
At that time it was tucked up in the garage on axle stands. I knew that the outriggers wanted doing and just needed to find the time.
Roll on a couple of months and the bonnet was removed closely followed by the engine and ancilliaries.
Then the horrible cold winter of 2010/2011 took hold, too bloody cold to do anything (read as get motivated).
Then came the tasks to keep the good lady happy, including a full new bathroom (ceiling, walls and all) and a new garden.
Having completed those tasks and got another Christmas out of the way I can now get back to it
So few hours yesterday disconnecting brake pipes and wiring the untangling said wiring from the chassis saw me at this point.

I had already booked the services of my best mate for today. He was forwarned of the task at hand and informed, that it is usually best tackled by atleast a half dozen or so people but, with the confidence born of no small amount of stupidity, I was confident that with the help of the engine crane we would manage. He was really looking forward to it, I could tell.
So a couple more hours today, and.
Body hanging from crane and sitting on rear tyres.

Then body on a pallett with casters fitted for mobility.

This is the reason for the lift, it didn't appear this bad (but bad enough) before I abused it.

Had a good scrape and poke at some other suspect bubbly bits around the seat belt mounts and big tubes that the rear arms mount to and am pleased to find it all solid if a little cruddy.

Main backbone is in great condition with most of the original powder coat unmarked (must not have been a Friday chassis) probably helped by the years of steady oil leaks.
Plan is to fully replace both outriggers and intermediate tubes, just clean and paint the rest.
Just have to try and keep up momentum now to try and be back on the road before summer
Let the cutting and welding commence

Progress update.
Yesterday.

Today.

Stripdown now complete. No mightmares discovered anywhere else on the chassis, which is pleasing.
I have discovered a few unknown problems in other areas. Some to be expected and fairly trivial and some not so much...
Exhibit A

That could have been interesting had it let go at speed.

Need a propshaft ?
You seem to have nearly as many wheels as you do fire extinguisers
Yes, I think so, have asked Norman already but he is not sure if he has one, is going to check. Do you have one if he doesn't? Also need atleast one spring for standard Koni rear shock but was going to put out an appeal for things when I have a list, there are a few odd ball things.

The wheels that the chassis is on were scrap ones aquired for this very job, welded into stands, chassis is approx 22" from the floor, nice working height and very stable.
The rest of the wheels (discounting the S wheels) are to do with the other WIP.
But that's another story.
