i have spent this morning driving 86 miles and getting stuck in traffic to see what ......... the M3 (motorway not beemer). i am v pissed off.
my quest for an S had a turn for the better when i saw the grey one advertised not too far from me in camberley. advertised late thurs - on the phone firday and arranged a viewing sat morning - I know from bitter experience that htey are sold v rapidly. ht ecar looked exactly what i was after and i drove up this morning having agreed finances with the bank yesteday, spoken with my insurers and cheque book in hand.3/4 of the way there - phone call from seller advising me someone has been there before me this morning and its sold. bollocks. drove to the next junction of the mway and turned around and drove home again. sorry for anyone i overtook on the way home at speed. i wasnt in the greatest of moods - with so few s about, this one had the colour, year, mileage, spec exactly what i was after. i stayed off the lager last night to avoid sleeping in and hangover and re-arranged w'end to fit in the viewing sooner rather than later.
dont get me wrong - the seller was good enough to tel me to let me know it had just been sold. and if someone agrees to buy less than 36 hrs after advertising the car then the seller has done brilliantly. this posting isnt attacking anyone, i am just severely f***** off and wanted some morale support from any other PH'ers. i am really wondering whether to bother at all at the moment. now where is me punchbag, and me coat..

I had the same sort of thing when tracking down an S, they do go quickly, but don't let it get you down.
It took me about 4 months to find the one for me, I got pretty fed up during that time. But once you've got it you soon forget all of the frustration and waiting and you soon realise that it was worth the wait.
Keep looking and keep your spirits up
Cheers,
Dave.

Sorry to hear about your latest attempt Shnozz, the right car is out there, don't fall into the trap of thinking that 'I better buy this one because someone else will snap it up' syndrome, the cars are coming up regularly so be patient you won't regret it.
However, it does back up the theory; sell the Tiv in the summer if you want to make the money and buy in the winter if you want to get the best price
Some day soon Shnozz we will have that blat around southern Hants..

I don't know if this is any use but I'll be selling mine soon (newbury area). I just need to fix the synch on 4th gear first (probably a new clutch too while I'm in there) which hopefully won't take too long - just waiting for some half decent weather. I was commuting down to Southampton in it but I don't want to keep putting loads of miles on it and frankly want something a bit more comfortable for 6.30 in the morning. It's a 90H S3 with 85K miles with fsh in grey (see profile) and I'll be advertising it at 6800 with an eye to getting 6500... does that sound in line with the sort of stuff you've been looking at?
I'm surprised you guys say S's sell quickly. Mine has been advertsied on Pistonheads for a month, had lots of phone calls but only one viewing from someone tentatively looking for his first TVR. Perhaps this is due to location - I am in Scotland, and numerous callers have said it sounds perfect but too far to travel to view. When I bough each of my 2 Tivs, I travelled the length and breadth of the country to find the right one as condition varies enormously.
If anyone is interested, I had it checked over by V8 Sports & Classics (who advertise in the back of the club mag) and they will give a verbal or written report to anyone interested.

Shnozz,
I'll send you the details.
I am ashamed to say that as I am very fussy but have very little patience so I have decided to wait a while until I am in a position to buy a Chimp. I have travelled a fair bit of distance in the past few weeks and have seen nothing that fitted my criteria.
Mind you I went to the Sportscar show at the NEC this w/e whilst there I visited the TVR car club stand they had a gorgeous blue V8S displayed there. Obviously some ones pride and joy I think it had had a great deal of cash lavished on it, but then it did look magnificent, if the owner is out there anywhere you are one lucky guy (or woman!).
