I have just received a really cheap insurance quote from Churchill. To insure my S2 I have been quoted £227.85 (fully comp, protected no claims, legal expenses). At last an advantage of being 30 something!!

on this thread - can anyone recommend an insurer for us younguns? my current insurers want £1300 comp on an S3 - I'm 24 with 4 yrs No claims bonus. I see from previous threads lots of young owners (a number several years younger than me with Chimaeras, griffs etc) that appear to get insurance for a decent price.

any tips?

PS - MattW - you had any joy sourcing an S yet? I have my eye on several at the moment and almost got to the stage of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

Schnozz,

I get shafted aswell !!

I am with Privilege as they were the cheapest I could get for unlimited mileage, due to the car being my everyday transport.

Currently the car is insured at my parents in north Norfolk due to me moving about at the moment.

Private drive, middle of a field in deepest Norfolk. Not a car thief for miles and I still pay nearly £600 a year ! 28yrs of age with 8yrs no claims ! Excess of £350. I had a compulsory excess of £500 last year.

I will be changing the insurance soon due to finding another permanent residance in London. You can imagine how much I'm looking forward to the revised quote !!

Cheers

Mark

Louise

I tried Churchill on the web and the price they gave was nearer 900 for my S1 and I'm over 30. Do you live in a special crime free area or are there other special restrictions? I currently pay 250 ish from Manning but thats on 4000 limited mileage.

Your forgetting Louise is a bird...

..rememer birds don't drive fast, and statistically never have accidents.. therefore insurance is loads cheaper..

would i get bird prices if I have a sex change? Even with the operation costs i think it might work out cheaper!

tried tesco - good start. reduced it to about £1150 with protected - £980 without. is it worth £170 to protect NCB. Bit worried that if i didnt and had a prang I wouldnt be able to afford to insure an S or any decent motor for the next 5 years!

Try ClassicLine I used to get my S3 very cheep as they classed it as a "Future Classic". I think you can find the number in Sprint.
Hope that helps.

I would also go for classicline; £270 for 5000miles, full noclaims for my (new to me) S1 and I'm a bloke. Bad news though, no extra to put girlfreind on!!!

Dear Shnozz
No offence taken - I know it is not a conventional car for a woman to drive.

Yes I did buy the S2 in Malvern very quickly - what a bargain and in great condition. A bird with sense and cheap insurance!!

Shnozz, sorry to hear your story about being pipped to the post. That's life, I suppose, but I agree with everyone who said that in time the right motor will turn up; I saw seven and was getting desperate before I saw my prospective new purchase at Fernhurst. It was a trade sale and I snapped it up straight away, but I must admit to being a little boozed at the time!! It turned out to be ok when I picked it up (and was sober).

As for insurance, I am 26, 4yrs ncb and 3 pts and I pat £380 with A Manning UK ltd, for 5000 miles pa. Classicline quoted £445 or so.

Cheers all, chin up.

you could try footman james in london.they class cars over 10years as classics.1st years premium was £392 comp inc legal and breakdown.this was for 4500 miles.6000 miles was £508. phone 0121 561 6202 and ask for the classics department.they dont seem to worry about no claims either! if your a first timer they will ask u for previous performance car experience.

none of these companies will do under 25's on classic policies unfortunately. bummer as all other criteria met such as car, mileage etc. Looks like I will have to pay the £1200 that Tesco want. God knows what it would be without 5 yrs no claims!
