Door Mirror Replacements

Hi All,

I'm looking to replace my door mirrors, mine are not original and not very good. I was thinking of using Mazda MX5 ones but there seems to be loads of different ones on e-bay. Can anyone point me to the ones to go for???

Hello, if your car is a S3, then the right ones are citroen CX 1990, you can still find them with a litle luck.Take care, there are electric ones and manual ones.
I just bought a pair from a citroen breaker in holland.

Thanks for the info but I'm not looking to go to the originals, I'm looking to put on MX5 ones so I can colour code them to my body. I just need to know which type/MX5 series ones I need??

Thanks for the info, I managed to source a set of Mk 1 MX5 mirrors. Did you fit yours using the same fixings or did you have to modify the door/fixings and or mirrors????

you will need to remove the old mount and that will leave a round hole in your door... the Mazda mirrors should have a foot with two studs, you will need to drill matching holes in your door and place a loadbearing strip and/or washers on the inside of the door so that you dont damage the fibreglass door skin. if you are lucky, you might get away with the new mirror foot covering the old hole completely... more likely there will be some of the old mount hole still visible which you will need to fill and paint.

Thanks for the advice, I do not have the original door mirrors but ones that look like they are off a ford, Norman has exactly the same ones I have, on Gerald. So hopefully the doors have already been modified. Can you get good access without taking the door glass out???

Mine is s1 the mx5 mirror covered the hole perfectly I just put a bead of silicon round the base to avoid water ingress access is fiddely but the glass didn't need to come out and I had no trouble removing the door cards

IIRC those are Taxi or fiesta/eacort mirrors and also have two stud fixing like the MX5
So you might be lucky with the hole spacing

Just waiting for the mirrors from e-bay ( 5 working days) then re-spray and fitting. Should improve the appearance. The ones on are a bit tatty and scuffed, but if anyone has a use for them I will gladly donate them when they are off the car.
