steering rack lube

I've seen various recommendations for lubricating the steering rack from 80/90W gear oil through hypoid to 0 weight grease.
Anybody here got any views on this?

I have a chevette haynes manual (S has a chevette rack body) and it says oil not grease.

Wouldn't have thought it too critical, something nice 'n thick like EP80 or 90 thats gonna stick to the teeth on the rack and pinion?

Things ain't exactly whizzing around in a steering rack quite as quick or under as much load as in a diff or gearbox
