Its a sad sad day.........

but I have decided (probably) to sell Gaerald. I have been suffering for some time with Osteoarthritis in both thumbs, sounds silly I know but it can be painful and it also means a limited amount of grip available. I'm finding the steering on Gerald a trial and if I drive any distance will suffer for a few days afterwards. Did think about Barkychocks power steering upgrade but have decided against. Everything needed for these cars has been done including outriggers etc recently.

So if anyone here might be interested some pictures and will probably put up a classified ad tomorrow.

I'm sad to hear you news Norman. Nontheless I do understand the issue - maybe it is time for a Griff with power steering???

Blimey Norman......really sorry to hear that.... it indeed is a sad sad day indeed ! Whilst I really understand what you mean regarding your condition, (I had a Stem Cell transplant which has left me a little weaker than I used to be and things take just a little longer...)....maybe you should take a little more time to reflect or is this already the result of much deliberation. Is the power steering option too big a job or simply not going to be much help ? Please dont make a decision in haste and repent at leisure.. you inspire us all ! Regards Graham

Very sad to read this, Norman. You have been so helpful to us all with your efforts manufacturing new & improved parts. Without knowing the details of your condition, had you thought that maybe just a different steering wheel might help? Would a slightly larger diameter or thicker rim be better? If you do sell "Gerald", I hope you will buy a fitting replacement.

Sorry you have had to come to this decision, I can only imagine how hard it must be to decide to sell. I do hope you find something else interesting (and less painful) for you to drive.

Depending on your level of committment Norman it may be possible to go narrower on the front tyres and some fiddling with the suspension goemetry by someone who knows what that are doing could work wonders before you take the final leap.
The Chim rack option is pretty good but not as light as a modern car anyway.
