Help needed accessing boot

Hi

I have an S3 with the electric release, and now can't get into the boot. I can hear the mechanism trying to release when I press the button, but with no success obviously.

I've looked up the "Emergency Access" section in the Steve Heath book, but it doesn't really make much sense:



Can anyone clue me in on this - privately due to security reasons? Cheers.

Try getting someone to press down on the off side corner of the boot (where the catch is) while you press the release button.

There is "another way in" but not for diccussion on an open forum !

Can someone also forward me a copy of the instructions? Nick's boot is being temperamental. His is the non-electric one, just a normal striker pin.

Back again.

Was able to get into the boot using the emergency access way, but I still have a problem with my release mechanism (which I can hear working, but won't release the boot).

Thought a couple of squirts of WD40 may solve it, but it hasn't.

So - what should I look at next?

The solenoid. Is it moving, is it moving freely through the whole travel?

Mine failed in the same way recently. Maplins stock them as central door locking solenoids. Quite reasonable too.

I think I've fixed it. Spent a short while adjusting the screw stop thingy to what I thought was the optimum position, and that seems to have done the trick.

The trade-off is that I have to be a bit firmer when closing the boot, but that seems like a fair-enough compromise.
