Shiny new exhaust

Well I finally went for it and I have replaced my 11 year old SS exhast on the S1.
The old one looked OK but had got to the point that after a long trip my ears were ringing for the rest of the day and the 300 mile round trip to S Club SCH this year made upmy my mind.

When Dulford examined the old one there no baffle plates left never mind and sound deadening. This was also reducing the back pressure and so losing power.

With the new SS exhaust the sound is still good but not eardrum blowing and is a lot deeper note which sounds great and I am now realising just how much power I must have been losing, especially below 3000rpm.

I just got back from a sunny early morning blat and we are very much back in business without waking up all of the village, smiles

Sounds like your pleased with your investment! Can I just ask what manifolds you have fitted as im sure my standard Siamese ones must stifle the power a bit ?

I think so on mine too, custom pipes have asked £500 to make some new custom manifolds, so would like to know if anyone has a cheaper solution.

I am afraid I have only got the standard Ford cast iron ones, I 've spent enough as it is what with new outriggers and clutch servo + master cylinder last year.

500 quid !! Thats a bit beyond my budget , in fact that was half my rebuild cost! I'm sure single manifold pipes would make a difference and look better, mind you I heat wrapped mine. Anyway besides I have seen a very nice Lotus Esprit for sale up the road . ........................
