fuel guage regulator ?

I recently replaced my fuel gauge sender tank unit it now works ok but has massive fluctuations when driving, is there some kind of regulator built in to the gauge that may be faulty ? I know the fuel sloshes around but it really is extrem before the swap it was very steady and accurate thanks in advance

So why did you change it ?


Mine (and i think most others) fluctuates wildly, can only get a vaugely accurate reading on a flat smooth straight road.

Ok walked in to that one . Have noticed that the s1 sender appears to differ from the s2 (black float on the s1) all I know is before it broke my original s1 sender was very stable but if thats the way it is I will have to get used to it

My old one only worked intermittently and it proved beyond repair, I got a new one from Rimmers (an old Landrover component now being remanufactured). Had to bend the arm a bit to get the levels right. I now have same issue as Phillpot, fluctuates quite a lot when I am moving so I tend to check the gauge when stopped on the level (traffic lights usualy!). Not ideal but it is a lot better than the stick I used to use!

Yeah mine is a molded landy one same symptoms. Miss my original
