clutch problems

I've been having problems getting my s2 into gear. Looked at clutch master cylinder and found a leak running down the outside of the bulkhead. Took master cylinder off the car and stripped it down. The two seals inside look worn, not that bad but the spring inside has snapped in two! Anyone know of where I can get a replacement spring and seals from?

You should be able to get a seal kit from any decent motor factors, but check the condition of the piston and bore because it's pointless replacing the seals if teh bore is damaged. Don't know where you would get a spring from. I don't suppose they're particularly critical about stiffness or length but they do need to seat correctly and have enough travel.

I'm not one to throw money around but I really wouldn't bother with repair kit (every chance bore is scored so will rip up new seal) for what they cost get a nice new complete master cylinder and may aswell do slave while you've got the bleed tube out !

Think there was a thread on here quite recently someone did the whole lot for about £25

I got aftermarket parts from Rimmer brothers,very cheap.Both the master and slave cylinder inc postage for £28.
However,the pipe connecting the master and slave needs an adaptor as the unions are different.This will also require a new pipe to be made up,got a local Landrover specialist to knock one up for £20.
The part numbers are as follows..
Slave: 591231
Master: 550732
Rimmers have changed the part number for one of them,can't remember which one it was.But they will understand if you quote the numbers to them.
One of the bolts on the slave is a right pig to get to unless you are triple jointed !!
