S3 Steering Wheel

Hello there

My steering wheel is the black leatherette/rubber variety which seems to get a bit tacky in the hot weather.
What I'd like is one of those alloy spoked wooden jobbies as seen on that hopefully priced BRG S3c that's just come onto fleabay.

Does anyone know where I might get one.

Hi Paul

I've had both in my various S's and I'd think carefully before changing - I always found the wooden wheel to be very slippery especially in anything approaching slightly cool conditions and I also feel I have, quite literally, got a better grip on things with the rubber/leather variety.

I also think the rubber/leather variety would be safer in the very unfortunate event of an accident happening.

Yes i wondered about grip especially when traveling at speed...I seem to grip a lot tighter.
I've been back on fleabay and seen the wooden ones up for sale...I wonder if a 450 SEAC wheel will fit an S3.
In the event of a crash head butting a wooden steering wheel may hurt a bit more than hitting a rubber one but I'd still like to try one.
I can always refit the old Momo if I don't like I suppose.

Have a momo wheel for sale. New and unscratched in box

Will not fit with standard S boss, bolt pattern is different.
I am not sure which model it was designed for.

Hello Han...I would be interested but as you can see the bolt holes are different. Unless there is some sort of adapter I don't think it'll be much use...shame.

I bought an adaptor. Think it was called nardi to momo and was only available in the US!

I assume with a Momo Escort hub you can fit pretty much any Momo wheel.. what version sierra is the col from.?

I have the wooden steering wheel and when cold or if going really spirited you really want a set of gloves to improve the grip. I've found that Bicycle gloves or a thin pair of leather ones works really well and are cheap solutions if you aren't going the whople hog and getting proper fireproof racing driving gloves

About to change mine for a MotoLita wheel (bought off fleabay and lightly restored). Had to get a replacement boss - aesthetically, it's far superior - will report back on the driving experience, and post photos soon...

Moto-lita is your friend, my wife managed to buy me a leather one from there for a birthday present. Came with the correct boss, and even i managed to bolt it on!
