Me too. Presumably you didn't literally spend all day on the phone though? If so you either have the use of a free telephone and your wasted time doesn't cost you money, or else you have saved less than you thought.

Brace yourself:
Age 27 Operations Manager (IT) 6+ NCD no claims/convictions
spouse 29 Editorial Research no claims/convictions
rural location in Herefordshire
1998 Puma 1.7 (value £7.5K,), 12000 miles a year, comprehensive cover, protected NCD, kept on a driveway, voluntary excess £150

Premium £663.60

Apparently its because I am under 30... the insurance industry used to use 25 as a breakpoint but now are apparently more and more using 30...

Other influencing factors must be:-

I'm old

I really do live in the middle of nowhere (though my Audi price was when I was living in Chobham in Surrey)

Well at least in future you premiums may come down

My second car is a 1999 Chrysler Neon LX, value £5000ish. I am 29, 8 years no claims, no tickets (touch wood) convictions etc - £630, albeit on the drive in London. This is only £30 less than my 1996 Chimaera 500 (garaged at same address).

How I love living in East London ;o)

Oh and I neglected to say that my Chim 500 is insured through the TVRCC scheme and that was the cheapest I found (£660 for 3,000 miles and for TVR CC track days too).

If you want to insure a TVR the you should try the TVR Club insurance from A. Manning UK Ltd. Its in the club mag. I got my 1992 V8S on 4000 miles classic insurance for £284. I am 50 with full NCD which helps but as it is a "classic cover" there is no no-claims needed or given.

I just insured my 98 Griffith 500 with Sunninghill. 46 yrs old, 6 yrs no claims, 3pts, declared a bump last month on wifes policy (my fault). She is 35 and also covered on Griff policy. Policy includes trackday cover, RAC, Legal protection and Protected No claims and 10000mls per annum. All for £492. While I do live in the country, our postcode is an Edinburgh one which is usually bad for insurance. The best I got elsewhere was £732. I am v. happy ! (policy is with Royal Sun Alliance)

bob, for me manning were more expensive and didnt provide breakdown cover, and i think the constant lack of getting through to him really p*ssed me off. Obviously people are going to get different quotes but i rang so many that i hope it sorts the cheaper quoted companies out from the fat cat companies. AXA do seem to be the most competitive at the moment, you just got to find a broker with less overheads/profit margin! happy hunting.
