Tyre Pressures

A friend of mine has just got his S out of the garage for the first time this year and cant remenber the appropriate tyre pressures.

The tyres are 205 x 60 x R15.

From memory this used to be something like 22psi.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

I think the TVR S handbook says 22psi front & 24psi rear.

for those standard size tyres, 23 front 25 rear for me, but Haynes data sheet on Pies site does say 1.5 bar for both...

Handbook 22psi all round, Steve Heath 22psi front and 24psi rear (I run at these and its fine)

I go 22/24 too

Those would be for an S "out of the box" as it were. Once you start upgrading springs, shocks, wheels & tyre profiles etc etc it all becomes less clear

Personally I have 25 and 27 but I have a lot of stuff in the boot and a slow puncture on one of the fronts...

If you have similar tyres front and rear, it's generally better to have slightly more pressure at the rear. 22/24 is unlikely to be far wrong, but there's no absolutely right answer.

I agree - I have played around with mine and have found a lot is weather and what you are doing dependent, long run I run 26 front and rear when cold - less fuel usage, lighter steering and more than enough give also cuts out on bottoming on any bumps (I also change the damper settings) but for hooning across Dartmoor I drop to 22/24 F/R and stiffen up the suspension again. Note I have 17" wheels and 215/45R17 on the front with 225/45R17 on the rear so not standard tyres either

It also makes a difference if you have a passenger or not. Basically play until you are happy would be my advice
