V8S electric window stopped working

My driver's window has stopped working in the down position. There is not even a flicker of movement on pressing the switch so i don't think it is stuck. The passenger side electric switches are still working ok and the rest of the electrics are ok. Does anyone know if this could be a 'simple' fuse problem or is it likely that the window motor needs replacing etc.
Any ideas much appreciated (luckily it is not been raining much recently!)

It seems pretty unlikely that you have burned the motor out, and if you can see it straining in the 'down' direction that seems to show the fuse is OK. I would suspect a wiring fault. Can you get at the switch and do a continuity check of the circuit out to the motor?

This happened to me and someone on here suggested lifting the switch out and jiggling the wires. This worked and saved me having to strip anything out of the door. Give it a go.

Had the same with mine. Worth trying the switch first.

Worth swapping the switches over - the drivers one will be more worn than the passenger one anyway

I had this with both my windows. It turned out, in both cases, to be a break in the wire right where the door opens and closes. It needed the door panel removing and a new piece of wire fitted by means of cutting and joining. I also left a bit more slack this time as there was none previously.

What Chris said. Swap the switches. The drivers one will be worse as it is used more frequently. I took my switch apart and the contacts are tiny, couple that to the motor pulling all the current through them and I am surprised they lasted as long as they did. I have devised a modification for mine with some relays so the switches operate the relay only, the relay then handles all the heavy current.

Thanks - did get it sorted (with the help of a friendly garage -austec). The switch would only go down and not up. It has now been swopped with the passengers witch which does work and I am waiting to find a new switch. Thanks for the advice. Giles
